Lets Go Skiing! January 14, 2010
Posted by burttscornerbenny in Events.add a comment
We will be going skiing for youth group this coming week. It will be on thursday since that is the cheap night. Lift ticket is $6.30 and your ski rental is 6.93. Anything else is extra so if you want to snowboard or something crazy like that you’ll have to bring more cash. You can be dropped off and picked up at the church. Transportation will be LEAVING @ 6. If you are late you will be left behind. We will be back at the church for you to be picked up around 9.
NOTE: Whether or not this event goes forward depends on how many sign up so if you are going you need to sign up soon. I will be looking at the numbers at the first of the week so see if it’s a go.

I am very sorry but with the storm coming we will have to cancel youth group for this week. But to look on the bright side we have the Christmas party next week! There will be info on the website http://sherwoodyouth.wordpress.com/ which you should bookmark if you haven’t already. Again I am sorry about canceling but if we have it and then it gets bad while everyone is here then I’m the one in big trouble. Its not worth risking you guys on the roads! See you next week!

Hey guys, like talked about last night, Operation Christmas Child is coming up fast and for once I don’t want us to have to try to get it all done at the last minute. This is why I want you to start collecting for it now! We have a large goal of 30 boxes which will give a group reward and an extended goal of 60 boxes which will merit a reward of epic proportions!
The Following are the gidlines for the boxes:
BOY OR GIRL?
Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child’s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Print out the appropriate boy/girl label by downloading the artwork to the right. Mark the correct age category on the label, and tape the label to the top of your box.
FILL WITH GIFTS
Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child. Use the gift ideas provided on the bottom of this page.
INCLUDE YOUR DONATION
Please donate $7 or more for each shoe box you prepare to help cover shipping and other project costs. You can give online by using our EZGIVE option, or you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box. If you or your family are preparing more than one shoe box, please make one combined donation.
GIFT IDEAS
TOYS
small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky®, etc.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

A PERSONAL NOTE
In a separate envelope, you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child may write back.)
DO NOT INCLUDE:
Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snowglobes or glass containers; aerosol cans

Hey guys and gals, Youth Group is up and in full swing (whatever that means) and so there are just a few things I wanted to remind you about. First of all exalt is coming up soon so if you haven’t registered and want to come to exalt then you should do that now! Just click on the events tab and it will tell you everything you need to know. Secondly, there has been some talk about bringing back KD Wednesday’s. If that is going to work, we would need a) enough people to make it worth it, and b) people to bring some KD. I can supply the milk and butter but last year I was buying all the KD every week. So if you think you’d be interested, let me know and participate in the poll below!
